Birdsmouth Timber Posts – Made to Order

Birdsmouth Timber Posts create a traditional knee rail or diamond rail fence. They clearly mark a boundary while keeping views open across the surrounding area.

Each post has a V-shaped cut at the top. A square timber rail sits diagonally in the cut, creating the familiar diamond rail appearance. For extra stability, you can fit a galvanised birdsmouth strap over the rail.

We make these posts to order in two sizes: 1000 x 100 x 100mm and 1000 x 150 x 150mm. We usually turn orders around in approximately 3 days, although exceptionally busy periods may take a little longer.

Strong Timber Construction

The substantial timber post supports the horizontal rail. Its V-shaped top helps hold the rail in position and gives the fence its distinctive finish. In addition, a galvanised birdsmouth strap helps keep the rail secure.

Choose the post spacing and installation depth to suit your rail length, ground conditions and finished fence design. Please note: Knee rail fencing defines a boundary, but its low height does not provide a secure perimeter barrier.
